Telling A Long Story through the playing of Keys
Clara Lin is a Pianist, Vocalist, Composer, Arranger, and Music Educator from Shenzhen, China. She is an active player who set her musical footprints in China, the US, and Canada. Regardless of forms and genres, Clara's music aims to threads her stories and imaginations through using her influences and languages from Classical, Gospel, R&B, to Jazz. Over the years, Clara has given concerts and performs with various art forms, including classical solo piano, Jazz trio/quintet, Jazz big band, Film Orchestra, and musicals.
Growing up in Shenzhen, China, Clara studied classical piano with the renowned music educator, Professor MeiLin Wang from the age of 4, where she built up a great repertoire of music from Bach, Chopin, Debussy, and Ravel. She held many concerts and won prizes in national competitions during this time. At age of 18, she went to the United States to continue her classical piano studies with Dr. Rex Cooper at the University of the Pacific. Out of her passion for contemporary music, she gave up her degree in Classical music and got the scholarships to go to the Berklee College of Music to study jazz music. Clara obtained her master’s degree in Jazz performance from the University of Northern Colorado, where she studied piano privately with award-winning pianist Dana Landry. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in Jazz Composition and Piano Performance from Berklee College of Music, where her mentors are some of the greatest musicians in the world includes Hal Crook, Nando Michelin, Steve Hunt, Laszlo gardony, Ross Ramsay, and Christian Li.
