Bio

Clara Lin is a pianist, composer, and educator based in Vancouver, BC. Her sound is an outlet of joy and soul, deeply connected to the beauty she finds in the world around her. Her musical approach is shaped by the rich traditions she grew up with—from the harmonic languages of Bach and Ravel to the spirit of African-rooted music through artists like Nina Simone and Oscar Peterson, along with the urban contemporary grooves that continue to inspire her today.

Clara’s musical journey began in childhood under the guidance of esteemed educator Meiling Wang, who built the foundation of her piano technique and instilled in her a lifelong love for learning. Seeking to deepen her craft, she later moved to the United States to study classical piano with Dr. Rex Cooper-an experience that strengthened her classical roots and encouraged her to explore new musical pathways.

Her passion for improvisation and contemporary styles led her to the Berklee College of Music, where she earned a scholarship and completed her bachelor’s degree in Jazz Composition and Piano Performance. At Berklee, Clara studied with influential mentors including Hal Crook, Nando Michelin, Ross Ramsay, Steve Hunt, and Christian Li, each of whom played a defining role in shaping her voice as both a performer and a composer.

Clara later completed her master’s degree in Jazz Performance at the University of Northern Colorado, studying privately with acclaimed jazz pianist Dana Landry, who further refined her musicality and artistic direction.

She has performed across China, the United States, and Canada, and in 2025 released her debut single, “You, and I,” now available on all streaming platforms.

Today, Clara continues to perform, create, and teach in Vancouver. She loves helping students discover their own musical language, build confidence, and find joy in the learning process. Her teaching reflects the same values that have shaped her journey—curiosity, creativity, and the belief that music brings people together.
